Kenny & Jackie Ching
Kenny and Jackie Ching, long-time volunteers, have made the Wailuku distribution a part of their Saturday mornings for 6 years. As Kenny shared, “We’ve seen people change. Now when we ask for prayer needs they ask to pray ‘Thank You that you folks (Feed My Sheep) are here.’”
Kenny and Jackie Ching, long-time volunteers, have made the Wailuku distribution a part of their Saturday mornings for 6 years. As Kenny tells us this all started because “We felt like God wanted more than our monetary tithe – He also wanted us to tithe our time.” Kenny and Jackie first heard about Feed My Sheep at Grace Bible Church as Joyce Kawakami shared. Their first impression of volunteering with Feed My Sheep was how good it felt for them to give rather than be given to.
You can find Jackie and Kenny in Wailuku 3 to 4 weeks every month. Jackie is regularly found in the back of “Aunty”, one of our trucks, organizing and stocking canned food and dry goods. We can always count on her to keep a tidy truck and full baskets of food.
Kenny works in the prayer “Well” amoung trained volunteers who distribute the canned food and dry goods, while offering a listening ear and prayer. To many of our friends (we don’t have clients, we have friends) Kenny has stood out for being the face they see every week. He has earned the honorary title of “Pastor Kenny” by supporting many friends through rough times and rejoicing when they share answered prayers.
The time Kenny and Jackie have offered to God at Feed My Sheep has been a huge blessing for all the staff, volunteers and friends. It has made a big difference. As Kenny shared, “We’ve seen people change. Now when we ask for prayer needs they ask to pray ‘Thank You that you folks (Feed My Sheep) are here.’”
